Transition Year

From Drama to Deutsch, Environmental Studies to English, Cookery Courses to Construction Studies and Gaisce to Geography the DCS TY programme offers the perfect blend of learning styles combining experiential learning with academic success.

Within our TY programme all our students have the opportunity to experience learning which will inform future career pathways and future passions.

With courses such as Road Safety, Spanish Studies, Internet Safety, Mini Company, Conversational Chinese and Horticulture mixed in with the Core Curriculum our students are exposed to life skills and lifelong learning opportunities.

In TY our students mature as individuals, learn to work collaboratively and develop personal and interpersonal skills by interacting in a wide variety of learning environments.

School Trips such as Skiing, Hillwalking, Outdoor Education, Orienteering, Charitable Activities and Museum visits forge strong bonds within the group and build on the strong rapport between students and staff.

Without doubt amongst the fondest recollections of all of our past students is their TY Panto; performing in front of large audiences, working together to ensure a shared success and collaborating creatively, our students develop enduring friendships and lifelong skills.
