Oireachtas National Essay Competition Winner 2023

DCS student James O'Connor attended a prestigious prize giving ceremony in Leinster House in March ‘23. During the ceremony James delivered his essay to a captivated audience arguing convincingly that "Parliamentary Politics Matters". 

James drew on his vast historical knowledge to explore the view that Ireland is a better place and society has been transformed for the benefit of Irish citizens due to our parliamentary democracy. To win this competition was a huge honour and an immense achievement.

Irish Representatives of  European Money Quiz Winners 2023

This  event is Europe's largest financial educational competition for 13 to 15 year old students involving 28 countries.  David Rath and Alex Jacewicz were the National winners in this online Kahoot! quiz which took place across a large number of schools in Ireland. Approximately 1000 teams took part, 20 of which were made up of DCS's Business Studies students logging on from school classrooms. 

Tested on a series of financial education related questions, David and Alex then went  to Brussels for an action packed few days, where though not emerging overall winners, were very highly placed.  A once in a lifetime opportunity for the boys!

Bank of Ireland's Secondary School Financial Literacy Quiz Finalists

Two DCS senior teams reached the National Finals of this prestigious event which was held in Trinity College in May. 150 teams competed nationally so this was no small achievement.  

International Session of the European Youth Parliament Qualification

5th year student Jonathan Solomon has qualified for the International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Switzerland in September. This is an organisation that facilitates student debate, discussion, committee work, resolution development and public speaking amongst young people. Jonathan is one of only 15 students to have been selected out of the whole country following the many knockout rounds of the competition. He will now represent not only DCS but Ireland as well.
