TY Student Charlie Gleeson Captains Ireland to International Volleyball Success

Transition Year student Charlie Gleeson proudly represented and captained Ireland’s U18 Men’s Volleyball Team at the U18 Small Countries Association Tournament held at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena recently.

Ireland delivered an outstanding performance over the three day competition, competing in a demanding round-robin format against five nations. The team showed incredible determination, teamwork and skill throughout, ultimately securing an impressive silver medal finish.

Even more excitingly the squad has now progressed to the next stage of the competition — the European Championship qualifiers. Led by Charlie, the team will travel to a yet to be confirmed European host country to compete at an even higher level.

This marks a historic milestone for Irish men’s volleyball, as the team has advanced further than any previous Ireland Men’s national squad.
