TY Students Attend Global Money Week 2026 Launch
Three of our Transition Year students, Diyar Muhsinoglu, Dáithaí O'Brien-Jackson and Nicholas Hari, proudly represented our school at the launch of Global Money Week 2026 in Croke Park recently. Speakers at the event included Brian McHugh of The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and Karl Cronin from the Money Advice and Budgeting Service. They both highlighted that financial literacy is not just about numbers but also about open and honest conversations around money, while also noting that one in three students now learn about money through social media.
As part of Global Money Week our TY Financial Literacy classes actively engaged in the Our Money, Our Future programme. Students worked collaboratively to design and produce informative leaflets aimed at their peers. Topics included:
The steps and real costs involved in learning to drive and purchasing your first car in Ireland
Legal Consumer Rights in Ireland and how to recognise and avoid scams
These leaflets were written in clear, student-friendly language and have been distributed throughout the school this week, helping to promote financial awareness and informed decision-making among all students.
Well done to everyone involved in this fantastic initiative!
