Gradam Na Scoile Recipients Bring Light and Life To DCS
A hugely enjoyable and extremely eventful year concluded as we celebrated the annual DCS Gradam na Scoile on May 15th to acknowledge and celebrate the fantastic achievements of our students.
In DCS we strive to, not only, acknowledge endeavour, dedication and academic excellence but also to celebrate our achievements across a broad spectrum of sporting and extracurricular activities.
Our deserving recipients stood out amongst their peers in making a significant contribution to school life in here in DCS.
They were selected for their excellence in their field by displaying respect, showing perseverance, modelling leadership skills and possessing great integrity. It is a great honour to receive a prestigious DCS Gradam award.
The awards reflected the vast variety of talents our students have; from academic to sporting, from musical to humanitarian the list is endless. The citations read by the teachers were very personal, gratifying and uplifting. The feeling of pride in the assembly hall was palpable as one by one the boys were presented with their bespoke glassware and certificates.
A highlight of DCS Gradam na Scoile is "Gradam an Phríomhoide" and this year the much coveted award was shared between Michael Morley and Robbie O’Brien. Both are true gentlemen who have contributed so much to our school community and are role models for our younger generation.
Principal Mr Barry paid a fitting tribute to our Gradam winners, “You are the students who bring life and light into our school. You are our role models, our leaders, our quiet grafters, our team players. You are the kind of young people who make all of us, your teachers, your parents and your school proud. ……….So, take this moment. Enjoy it. Soak it in. Revel in it. And when you go home tonight, I hope you reflect with your family on what it means to be recognised in this way. Let it fill you with pride and let it remind you of what you’re capable of.”
A special thanks to Mr Cian Finn, whose meticulous planning and organising ensured a hugely enjoyable evening for all present. Comhghairdeachais libh go léir. Táimid fíor bhrodúil asaibh.
