German Exchange Group – Cologne 2026 🇮🇪🤝🇩🇪
Our 2026 exchange group is having an amazing experience in Köln, fully immersing themselves in German culture, school life and the world of work.
A memorable highlight was visiting the famous Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral), where the group gathered for photos in front of the city’s most iconic landmark. Students are also spending time with their partner school, Herder Gymnasium, and a group photo in the schoolyard captured the strong friendships forming through the exchange.
Now in their second week, students have started work experience placements in a variety of settings, including RTL television studios, a university laboratory, a German courtroom and a local café. These opportunities are helping them build confidence, workplace skills and real-world language experience.
The group also travelled to Leverkusen to attend a football match, experiencing Germany’s love of the sport firsthand.
Their time in Cologne, on the banks of the River Rhein, is proving to be both educational and unforgettable. A special thanks to Ms Zoe O’Mahony for organising such a fantastic exchange.
