Debating Success for DCS Seniors

Our senior debating team took to the stage last week for the first round of the ACCS competition, delivering a dynamic and decisive performance. It was a superb start to the school year, with DCS emerging victorious against Bishopstown Community School after a stimulating and skilfully contested debate.

The motion, “This house believes TY should be mandatory for all second level students,” sparked strong opinions on both sides. Adding pressure to the proceedings, students discovered which side they would support on the day of the debate. Despite this surprise, the boys showed composure, confidence and clarity, crafting a compelling case through persuasive points and polished presentation.

Their teamwork, thoughtful tactics and articulate arguments impressed adjudicators and audience alike. This success reflects their preparation and passion for public speaking, and sets a promising precedent for the rounds ahead.
