Silver Medal At Young Economist Of The Year for Yr5 Student.

Congratulations to Ciarán Canty, whose project “AI - Boom or Bust?” , was the silver medalist at the UCD event.

Ciaran’s View: It was a great pleasure and honour to travel to UCD for the Young Economist of the Year event along with Ms. Barry.  I presented my project, “AI - Boom or Bust?”, which I had worked on throughout the year, achieving a silver medal. Honestly, I had a fantastic time. Walking in and seeing the wide selection of interesting, unique and complex projects littered on the display boards, from students of all ages, genders and backgrounds was incredible! Finally seeing my own project which I had laboured at, stuck up on the display board, my name on a card above the board, gave me a great sense of accomplishment.

Listening to the plethora of economics professors from universities across the country gave me a new, deeper understanding of what economics is. They made sure to stress that economics is not just about money, it’s about the way people act, about understanding the behaviour of people, societies and the world as a whole. Seeing the excitement and genuine interest they all had for the range of projects made it impossible for me not to feel just as fascinated by them!

An account from 5th Yr DCS student Ciarán Canty who was rewarded with a silver medal in the Young Economist Of The Year competition in UCD this week for his outstanding project. Well done Ciarán!
