Silver and Bronze for Luke at Taekwon-do World Cup!

By J.R. Hartley – Transition Year

Douglas Community School student Luke Griffin (14) has won silver and bronze in the International Taekwon-do Federation World Cup.

The ITF World Cup took place October 2nd – October 7th in Brighton, England.

Luke faced stiff competition from 1,000 other competitors, from fifty countries across the globe. He participated in four sparring bouts, fighting off competition from Japan, Argentina, New Zealand and Russia, and finally winning silver in team patterns and bronze in team sparring.

Luke first started Taekwon-do aged four, when he joined Douglas’ Club but moved to the North Mon Taekwon-do Club six years ago. From an early age, he showed great skill and determination. He even spent an amazing fifteen hours a week training for the World Cup!

Douglas Community is hugely proud of Luke and we extend our warmest congratulations to him and his teammates. Well done Luke!
