First Years Victorious in Kinsale Open Cross-Country

First year athletes, so busy lately with their own Cross Country League, also took part in the Kinsale Open Cross-Country event recently. They lined up in the under-14 1500m race and won the team title in great style. Jack O’ Mahony had a fine win. Others who ran well were Liam Harris, Jonathon O’ Connell and Jamie O’ Connell.

The final of the 2009 Douglas Community School First Year Cross-Country League was held on Friday, 18 September and there were some superb performances. Two athletes ran the 5th and 6th fastest ever times on the course. Winner of the "A" race, and new First Year Champion, was Jack O'Mahony, with Jamie O'Connell a fine second and Liam Harris third.
