Douglas Community School Student receives a UCC Entrance Scholarship

Douglas Community School Student John McNamara pictured receiving a University College Cork Entrance Scholarship from the President of UCC Professor Michael Murphy. John scored 600 points in his Leaving certificate and is studying medicine at UCC.

Douglas Community School is the only school in the Douglas-Rochestown area to win University Scholarships in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Douglas Community School students have a long history of winning university scholarships. In the past ten years our students have won numerous entrance scholarships to UCC as well as scholarships to Trinity College Dublin, Cambridge University and many universities in the United States.

In another outstanding achievement Douglas student Brian Murray achieved top marks in his Junior Certificate 2007 with 12 A grades in higher-level papers. Brian is a member of the highly successful school athletics team and is a member of the Cork Youth Orchestra and the Irish Youth Orchestra.
