Douglas Community School athletes traveled to Banna Co. Kerry for their annual pre-season training weekend on Friday 21st September. There were 40 of the schools athletes in attendance and Ronan Duggan Bandon AC, Mike O’ Sullivan West Muskerry AC and Niall Tuohy Ferrybank AC also trained with the group. Coach Steven Macklin took the athletes through some training sessions on the beach and the sand dunes. The group also took in some swimming and core-strength. Outside of the training, Ian Tobin led the Poker night while Peter Fennell and Kevin Loftus entertained the group with their guitar expertise and Niall Tuohy gave us a sample of his party pieces with a few Christy Moore songs. All in all a great weekend was had by all and a special thanks to the effort put into training and the good behavior of the athlete’s at the weekend.
