This year’s German debating competition kicked off just before mid-term. As usual, Douglas is stepping up to the challenge. Its team this year consists of Cian O’ Mahoney, Robert McCarthy, Sergei Pobulding, Sean Creagh, Jonathon Wallace and Brian O’ Connell.

The knock out competition began this year with the motion (Students shouldn’t work during the school year which in German translates to- Schuler sollten wahrend der Schulzeit nicht jobben.) The Douglas team were pitched against Spioraid Naoimh, and were arguing contra the statement. On the day, four of our speakers took the stand and successfully persuaded the judges to drop the motion.
